This week’s activity was to use the photos that we have collected and create a digital collage from them. This has been my favourite activity because I was kind of just messing around, though I did actually plan my composition and follow the plan. I just wanted it to be silly and reminiscent of the skeleton memes. Using photoshop is easy enough as long as I have my history tab and the command z shortcut. I will admit I messed with a lot of settings that I don’t actually understand but through trial and error I ended up with a result I think is pretty hilarious but at least visually striking. Along the way I became more proficient in using layer masks which turned out to be the most essential function for making a digital collage. I layered a lot of things to create shadows and highlights so it feels maybe a bit un-collage-ish. But the skull and the man in the background kind of save the effect.
