This week’s in class activity was to record a whole bunch of sounds, inside and outside, short and long, in mono and stereo audio. And then to use graphic notation to compose an experimental track. Finding and recording shorter sounds was fairly easy as literally anything you do makes a sound, the longer ones were a bit more difficult but I think that was my fault for sort of limiting myself to sounds that were mostly consistent for the duration of the clips. The composing was actually fun, listening back to my sound selection and visually demonstrating how I eventually want to put them together felt strangely straightforward and easy. I think mainly because I’m the only one who really needs to understand it as of right now. But I think I’m pretty well prepared for next week as I feel like I have a fairly clear direction on what I want to make, using texture and colour felt really intuitive and I can kind of feel the sounds I want to use
