The process of creating these drawings and paintings requires a vast collection of referential imagery, channeling the drama and energy of the performing arts in pose, expression and lighting. And by depicting them in distorted and semi-abstracted ways, a singular static frame can manage to express strong complex emotions. Often through the layering of multiple figures a narrative is created, moving sequentially or simultaneously through both clashing and harmonious feelings. The images below appeal only to the sense of sight, but aim to provoke the physical sensations of emotions felt, beyond seeing.
